+1 social responsibility

i know y i like market food.I KNOW already!cos i feel tt we sud help individual stall owners in this economy climate. the individual hawkers at the markets need our business more than anything else. They derive their income solely from our visits.. compared to fish & co for example ( we were tempted again today . lol ).. they have a more complicated cost structure.. and they probably will be able to power through this bad weather by doing other stuff. By reviewing their business modal, etc.

Now i know why i like the markets so much. Other than the ambience, you will be able to experience the real singaporean atmosphere. Unplugged. Dialects dangle in the air. Hokkien vulgarity pierce through the noisy background noise. I am not very particular about the noise.. as when im with my friends, I cut out all the noise, and i concentrate on the conversation, a lot. To be able to filter all the noise and focus on the conversation is natural for me :D

Ever since I stepped into Singapore about 7 years ago, I have always found the food stalls at the markets appealing.. maybe because we do not have this kind of arrangement back in Ipoh. Ha. I always feel that the best way to experience Singapore is to wake up early in the morning, and have Nasi Lemak with chicken wing.. and wash it down with a 50cents glass of grass jelly. Then for lunch, we can have chicken rice.. with the carrot cake.. with watermelon juice, and then, for dinner, we can have banmian.. whether it's the original version, or the singaporean tomyam version.. it's all good. Addicted to banmian. I wish that I could have this one day. I love it. One day one day.. :)

Well, not really into restaurants.. like swensen or fish n co.. etc. I know some of you will think that going to those kinda places represent a certain sense of enjoyment etc. But well, to me, having wan ton noodles with extra 叉烧 is already very much enjoyment! And of course, i totally miss home cooked food. Gotta go back to my cousin's place soon. Maybe next week. For a good bowl of soup..

I also miss the 排骨面 at faculty of science. I think this is not the first time I blogged about what I wish to eat. haha. I think i did this when i was in shanghai. And the type of food didn't change at all.. When i like something i stick to it. Boring guy hur..

Anyway yesterday's short tv appearance was really quite embarassing.. i feel la.. cos i think i was too serious.. argh.. i gotta smile more.. but it was good. i think i dun look fat there. i wonder why. maybe im not THAT fat ( mf myself ).. well.. but i think it's good experienece. thanks huimin for setting it up.. and of course chye peng from mediacorp. :D

Haha.Completely agree there is a certain satisfaction one gets frm hawker food. ;) U mentioned banmian and got my mouth watering!

BEST: Takashimaya food court Banmian noodle.

A lil' more upclass foodcourt so hokkien-swearing-ambience is lacking & a lil' pricey.Bt I have to say for a banmian lover you have got to try it frm there. ;)
